As the Upward Cheerleading Director at FB Wylie, I want to share with you a little bit about Upward Cheerleading. We are looking for several enthusiastic, dedicated Christian women to take part in the  Upward season! Being an Upward cheer coach involves the following commitment:  1-1 ½ hour practice per week, (1) one hour game per week on Saturday, and leading girls in a short devotional at practice where you’ll have the opportunity to share God’s word and discuss how it applies to their lives.

There will be cheer coach training sessions before the season begins and an awards ceremony at the end of the season that you are required to attend. Please be assured that you do not need to have cheerleading experience nor do you have to be athletic. It helps, but is not a must to lead Upward Cheerleading. The most important thing you can do as an Upward cheer coach is to have fun, be committed to the season, and show your girls the love of Christ in all that you do.

I have had coaches with no experience come to me at the end of the season and say, "I had more fun! And I could do the cheers myself!" Most of the cheers are easy to learn and stunts are not permitted. Each coach will receive training, a DVD to take home that demonstrates devotion time, hand and arm positions, and the cheers in a step by step fashion. The DVD makes it really easy to learn all you’ll need to coach Upward cheerleading!

Upward is a Christ-centered ministry where we encourage a positive attitude, help build character and most importantly, seek to lead young girls to a relationship with Christ. (We try to get a little cheering in for fun!) Seriously though, we practice hard each week, and half way through the season we introduce a pom routine for the girls to perform. You can do it!

I look forward to hearing from you very soon!
